    A hydrogen atom has one proton and one electron. There is no neutron present in the hydrogen atom. When an hydrogen atom loses an electron, hydrogen ion is formed. Hydrogen ion has only one proton and has no electron or negative charge particle. Hydrogen ion is also called proton because it is consists of only one proton. The atomic mass of hydrogen ion is one atomic mass unit. Moreover, it has a unit positive charge.
