Can I Install A New GPU If My Old One Fails? (Toshiba Tecra M4)

Boots occasionally to a line that says "PCI Express error", but usually doesn't boot even that far. Powers on, CD works, HDD is running but not seeking after the first power-on. The screen painted some wild colors twice and had to be rebooted, and for a while was getting extraordinarily hot under the left side of the hand rest area. Would much appreciate some advice. Thanks!

Yes you can install a new gpu since the error you have mentioned is most probably due to your video card.It might be that it was over heated. To install new gpu you have to be careful of its compatibility with your laptop. It is best that you repair it from an authorized dealer

Thank you very much. I've since taken it apart and it appears to be soldered in, though dedicated, so it looks like I can't do it, realistically.

      Thanks!
