What Are Dovetail Jigs?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A jig is a tool that holds a piece of work and directs the tool operating on it. Dovetails are a sequence of pins and notches that permit the corners of drawers to be fitted jointly in a beautiful and rock-hard bond.

Dovetails may be engraved by hand and craftsmen who make only a limited number of drawer or cabinet joints can decide to incise them by hand. Woodworkers and carpenters have confirmed that the results are far brighter when a commercial jig is used. There are some dovetail jigs which can cut all types of joints while there are others that can cut one or couple of joints. Dovetail joints are extremely formidable joints that have the ability to resist adequate amount of pressure. This makes it ideal for drawer work and constructing cabinets.
