Where Was Woodstock 99?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Woodstock 99 was held in the upstate of New York in Rome. The concert was held over the weekend from July 23 to July 25. The entire concert of Woodstock 99 was available for live viewing on a pay per view basis. It is estimated that approximately 230,000 viewers attended the festival. However the concert was tainted with massive outbreak of people looting, violence and sexual assault, these acts had marred the motto of "Peace and Love" which is the official motto of Woodstock.

Even though the crowd was angry over the poor management of the whole concert and the venue (which was an abandoned US Air Force Base), the show wasn't disappointing. With huge musical acts playing at Woodstock 99,  Alanis Morisette, Brian Setzer orchestra, Bruce Hornsby, Counting Crows, Fatboy Slim Godsmack, Insane Clown Posse Korn, Limp Bizkit and Rage against the machine, who burnt the American Flag onstage.

Even though there were many other acts present on the bill, only two names stood out on the entire bill; Megadeth and Metallica. It was a night that Metal fans could never forget two of the biggest powerhouses in Metal in the same event. While Metallica belted out their famous songs like Master of Puppets, Nothing Else Matters, Battery and One. Megadeth on the other hand headlined the festival and played their famous songs like Holywars…The Punishment Due, Symphony of Destruction and Peace sells…but who's buying.
