What Is The Best Way To Handle Being Lied To By Somebody That Has ADHS?

ADHD is not an excuse. That is like saying that because someone is in a wheelchair they should not be able to work. I have ADD (no hyperactivity) and did many rash, impulsive things as a kid and lied a bit too, but I repeat it is NOT ADHD. The lying is a symptom yes but not the whole picture. What is he lying about? What he was doing? Where they went? If he stole a beer from the fridge? About what or who he is? The problem is the impulse control, the lack of conscious thought before leaping into an action, choosing something that he wants rather than what is right etc. Then if he gets caught he has to lie. If it is to make himself something he's not that is a simple self esteem issue. Which could stem from the antisocial behaviors brought on by the ADHD or for some other reason entirely. He also may have parents that did not care enough to catch him in his lies and have permitted the behavior. Let him know that you don't take kindly to it, and what consequences there will be for his behavior, not dating your daughter, doing chores/services for you comenserate to his bad behavior, jail? It depends how far it has gone, but ADHD is not an excuse. He makes his choice, he will have to deal with the consequences. Not that he will take that well but, what is the other option?
