The City of Santa Cruz is in the state of California in the United states of America. This city of Santa Cruz, California, is situated and located on the northern part and side of the Monterey Bay at about a distance of seventy four (74) miles towards the south of the city of San Francisco and at about a distance of thirty (30) miles from the city of San Jose.
The city of Santa Cruz is also the county seat for the County of Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz has of a total area of 12 square miles and is estimated to have a population of 56,300 ( according to the 1/1/04 Department of Finance, California) .
The University of California, in Santa Cruz campus was opened in the year1965 and it had a population of 10,117 in 1996.
The major industries of the city include agriculture, tourism, food processing, manufacturing and high tech firms. About 10% of the land area of the Santa Cruz County is devoted to the State Parks, several of which are within or adjacent to the limits of the City.
