What Is The Function Of A Nucleus?

Answer Question

17 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Nucleus is the master organelle of all living cells .It is called as the brain of the cell. All the major functions of the cell are performed under the instruction of nucleus. In animal cells it is present in the middle of the cell whereas in plant cells it is pushed towards the periphery. Nucleus contains chromatin material. The chromatin material consist of DNA which is the hereditary material of the cell. The major functions are:-
1.It is involved in cell division.
2.It stores all the information that is to be transferred to the next generation.
3.Assembly of ribosomes takes place in the nucleolus present inside the nucleus.
4.DNA replication and transcription processes take place inside the nucleus.
Transcription is the formation of mRNA. This messenger RNA then plays its role in the translation, the process of protein synthesis. Thus the information generated by nucleus governs the formation of enzymes and other proteins that carry out all the processes of body.

Not all living cells have nuclei, only eukaryotes have a nucleus, prokaryotes such as bacteria have no nucleus, or any other double membraned organelles.

The nucleus of a cell is the most important part of a cell as it contains the genetic material such as DNA molecules with a large variety of proteins. These molecules combined with proteins form chromosomes. The function of a nucleus in a cell is to control the activities of the cell by maintaining and regulating the genes present in the chromosomes.

Nucleus is basically a membrane enclosed Organelle that can be found in all the eukaryotic cells. It is made up of Nuclear envelope, cellular cytoplasm, Nuclear lamina, nuclear pores, cytoskeleton etc.

The most important function of Nucleus is that it contains most of the genetic material of the cell. This genetic material is organized as multiple linear DNA molecules along with proteins. It controls the gene expression and also replicated the DNA During cell cycle. It is a place for the genetic transcription. It also controls the contents of cell and also the cytoplasm.

1..DNA plays significant role in the inheritance of characters as well as in controlling or regulation the cell activities.

2.the number of chromosomes in the cells of all individual of the same species always remains constant.

A Nucleus in the highly dense center of an atom made up of Nuetrons and Nuetrons.  It is positively charged, so it keeps the negatively charged Electrons from flying away from the rest of the atom.
