When Was The Lobster Phone Invented?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Lobster phone basically is a surrealist object created by Salvador Dali in the year 1936. Dali extensively mentioned about lobsters and telephones in his well known book, "The Secret Life", in which he insisted on knowing, why when he demanded for a grilled lobster in a hotel, he was never presented with a telephone. This weird structure generally is a normal telephone and a lobster which is made out of plaster. It is nearly 15 into 30 into 17 cm in dimension. Dali produced this bizarre object with the main objective of aligning the genitalia of the lobster, towards the end of the phone which a person would speak into.

Initially four different copies of this object were created. One of which can be seen at the Tate Modern in London.
