YouTube has become one the most popular sites on the internet. YouTube was founded in 2005 by some former Pay Pal employees. Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim were the initial founders of Youtubbe. The concept of YouTube is that anybody can upload a video on to the site. The videos need not be professionally developed. They can be an absolutely amateurish effort; the site will provide you a platform to show your stuff to the world.

The site is free for anybody who would like to upload a video and also anybody who wishes to view the videos. The site has not generated any revenues so far but receives hundreds of millions of hits daily. Recently Google acquired YouTube for U.S. $1.65 billion in Google's stock. The site has received backing from some of the premier venture capitalists. YouTube will probably go down in history as a significant techno-cultural phenomenon.
