    Does Anyone Know Anything About Painted Turtles?

    We are thinking about getting 2 painted turtles, but we don't know much about them. I was wondering if anyone would be able to answer the following questions?.... 1. How big of a tank do you think they would need? 2. Would they need an air pump on the water side of the tank? 3. Can they be tanked out of there cage? If so, for about how long? 4. How much water needs to be in the tank? 5. Do they bite? If anyone can help my by answering these questions i would really appreciate it. Thank you.

    1. Big enough for them to get around
    2. Not sure
    3. Yes they can be taken out of their cage, for a long time, maybe an hour or 2.
    4. Enough to cover their shells.
    5. Yes i think they bite, but mine doesn't, she just hisses.

      I have a couple painter turtles, one is about 4 inches and the other is a baby no bigger then 2 right now. Assume everything bites until your comfortable handling them. Generally they're pretty easy going. You can house them many ways depending on your space availability.  A regular 30 gallon aquarium should be fine to hold 2 turtles with enough rocks to get them out of the water from time to time. They like to sunbathe if given the chance.
