A nuchal scan can be done at a prenatal clinic. It is an ultrasound scan that helps to determine whether a foetus is at a higher risk of being afflicted by Down's Syndrome or not. A nuchal scan is a prenatal screening ultrasound scan. The ideal time to carry out the nuchal scan is when a pregnant woman is in the third month of her first trimester of pregnancy.
