If your dog is pregnant then take care of his diet because dietary requirements of pregnant dogs is increased up to 30%. This is necessary for normal growth of the unborn puppies. You have to take following steps to help your dog during pregnancy and whelping.
1. Ultrasound after 50 days of gestation to know size of liter, birth defect and date of delivery
2. Building a whelping box
3. Cleaning of puppies with dry towel after delivery
4. Cutting of amniotic sac if it is still present at the time of birth
5. Cutting of umbilical cord after delivery
