IF there was one Solid answer for that Someone would be rich selling self help books :)    I tend to pray .. A lot.. And to remind myself of the Uplifting scriptures like Psalms.  And distraction is a good tool.. It may not be the best.. But if your mind is on something else it helps.. Books Movies.. Talking to friends.. Folding Laundry.. Whatever is available.  I do find that the times I most want to avoid everyone is when I need them the most.  So seek out those friends anyway and let them help you even if its just a shoulder to cry on.. OH and I keep a notebook handy.. And I try to write down anything I think of as a blessing or a happy memory or a good thought, remember simple happy times can make you smile or laugh and laughter they say is the best medicine.
I know this isn't much.. But Its what Ive got right now.  Going through some stuff also.. So many people are really.  It's amazing how many people I know are having major stress issues.. From lack of work and $.. To health crisis.. To loss... LEt us all PRay for one another to find that peace that surpasses all understanding....

Hi my dear knutters- I understand what you are going through, i have been through alot since my husband died last year.  I have alot of stress and panic too- sometimes for me the best thing is to have a good cry- tears are a gift from GOd to help decrease stress.  Also i light a few fragrant candles and have a hot cup of a favorite flavored tea and lie back in my recliner, with nice music or a funny TV show on. And always pray for God's help.  My brief counselor also advised me to take a walk even if it is just around the yard and really look at all the things around you- focusing on the gifts of nature God gave us.
If you really are struggling then see your doctor- there are meds available that can help- I take some meds for anxiety and it helps.  God bless you.

Thanks, I still owe you an email but stress is slowing me down on catching up on my emails. No need for a doctor yet, I have plenty with this surgery coming up. I usually recite the Serenity Prayer but not helping today :(

I would be careful with the yoga, it is too New Agey for my taste. Some days are harder than others, and you may feel more stress, esp. with surgery coming up. But try to take some time to relax in a chair or the sofa, and sip tea, listen to music (Soft). God bless.

I deal with stress by taking time for myself. Also walking is helpful. And a long bath!!

I like to read and listen to some music. If I'm really stressed, then I take a walk alone.
