Who Was Simon Girty?

Simon Girty was a liaison during the American Revolution. He served with the British and their Native American allies. He is considered to be a villain in many history text books of the United States. Being an American, he had betrayed them and joined the British forces. He is often known as a cruel person because he was one of the witnesses to the torturous murder of Colonel William Crawford. Girty wanted the scalp of Colonel John Gibson due to a conflict between them. Girty has also saved many lives of American prisoners during the war. Girty was never a part of the war, just a refugee. Later, Girty escaped to Canada and died in 1818 being completely blind. He was also known as a brutal monster.
