Does A Maple Leaf Tree Drop Its Leaves When Stressed?

Answer Question

Yes!It could be drought, or excessive watering, insects and other known pathogens.  All of these factors cause stress.  If you've been experiencing a drought, water the tree.  Be careful not to over-water, make sure you have proper drainage and that the roots are not submerged for a long period of time.  Check the leaves, branches and bark for insect eggs, larvae or any visible insect damage.  Contact a Certified Arborist if unsure.  If you really want to save the tree it's a small price to pay.Good Luck!ISA Certified Arborist

My maple tree leaves turned color last fall but never fell off the tree.  In the spring the brown leaves turned green again.  The tree never produced any new leaves this year.  Why is this?  I live in upper Michigan with an average of 200 inches of snow every year.
