What Is A Plasma Television?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Plasma television essentially refers to one with a plasma display which is the term given to an emissive flat panel display. Here light is created via phosphors which are excited by a plasma discharge just between two flat glass panels. Note that this gas discharge does not have any mercury (unlike the backlights of an AMLCD). Rather it holds a mixture of noble gases (namely neon and xenon). The resulting gas mixture is not only inert but also utterly non-harmful.

While earlier plasma televisions were thought of as incredibly exclusive, it is frequently seen in homes all over and is growing fashionable in modern cultures.

It is commonly seen for larger models of TV displays (characteristically those above thirty two inches).
