Why Are There Drilled Holes In An 1866- 3 Cent Nickel?

We have a collection of 3 cent nickels ranging from 1865 to 1875 and all have drilled holes through them. Why are there holes, and what is the value of these coins?

There are holes drilled in your three cent coins because they were used as jewelry (probably a bracelet) at one point or another. Since you weren't more specific in your description about the coins it is nearly impossible for me to tell you their value. To have them appraised you need to show them to a coin dealer.
