Emile Lahoud is the President of Lebanon. Lebanon is also known as Al-ibnan or Al-jumhouriya al-Lubnantya. It is a country which is bordered by Syria and Israel. Its most famous cities are Beirut and Tripoli, beirut having experienced significant turmoil over the last twenty years or so.
The country is predominantly Muslim, with around 355 of Christians remaining in the country, but very few Jews, with most having left after the 1975-76 civil war. However, 17 religious sects are recognised within the country.
