How Is Statistics Applied To Psychology?

    Statistics are quite frequently used in the field of psychology. Psychology relies on statistics in the administration of various psychological tests such as Thematic Apperception Test, CPI (California Psychological Inventory), 16 PF etc. These tests involve various results in the form of numbers which are grouped together to draw certain important conclusions about the individual's personality. Various tools of statistics such as mean, standard deviation, frequency distribution, mean absolute deviation, t-test, f-test etc are used by the psychologists to interpret the numerical results obtained from the test. Psychologists also use statistical techniques to check the validity and reliability of the psychological instruments.
