How Many Toes Does A 3-toed Sloth Have?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The three-toed sloth is a mammal belonging to the Bradypus genus and Bradypodidae family. It is slightly different from its cousins, the two-toed sloth. There are inherent differences between the two, though. The three-toed sloth is larger and faster than the two-toed sloth. There is no confusion regarding the number of toes that the three-toed sloth has. As the name suggests, it has three toes. The confusion may arise, however, when discussing the number of toes and fingers the two-toed sloth has. The two-toed sloth has three toes, unlike what its name suggest. However, it has only two fingers, which sometimes make it seem like it got the name by mistake.
The three-toed sloth thrives in warm and humid climatic conditions, because of its inability to retain a constant body temperature. The male sloth appears lazy, and may not move out of a single tree for around  a year. The femal sloth is more active, however, and moves out of a tree after childbirth, when it gives its current tree to its offspring.
