The word 'dreadlocks' describes a style of hair that is usually used by the Rastafarian people and in it the strands of hair are twisted to make thin long pieces that hang down from the head.
     
If you want to make the design by yourself what you will have to do is visit a saloon or tell some body that has the patience to sit for long period of time. The person will have to take few strands together and then make a crisscross with each pair of group of strands. When you do this for each of the group of strands, you will be able to create a group of braids with less number of hairs in it and it will make you look as if the twisted strands are coming out of your head.
