I've Been Using My Sunbed For Years With No Side Effects Or Problems. However, My Doctor Has Told Me That I Shouldn't Be Using It As Often As I Have Been But Surely If I've Been Using It For All This Time Without Any Ill Effects, It Won't Hurt Me Now?

Just because you haven't noticed any damage to your health just yet, it doesn't mean that you won't. This is because sunbeds are unfortunately just as much of a risk to use as sunbathing outside is. They use UV rays which are what the sun gives off and when your skin tans, it is actually becoming damaged.

The most common effect of sunbed use is that it causes your skin to age prematurely. There is also a big risk of skin cancer and damage to the eyes as sunbeds give off high levels of UV rays and many people use their sunbeds every single day.

The reason you may not have experienced any symptoms so far, is because often it takes up to twenty years to show the damage that has been done. People with very fair skin especially need to be careful on sunbeds and in fact it is recommended that if you have extremely fair skin and freckles, you shouldn't use a sunbed at all.

Overall, fake tans are much safer than sunbeds and you should never use your sunbed more than twice a week.

That's like a doctor telling you that using crack-cocaine every day is going to eventually kill you. No, you haven't seen it kill you yet, but it will. It's dangerous is what he's trying to tell you, and just because you can't "feel" or "see" the side effects, doesn't mean they're not there.
