How Can One Tell If They Have Food Poisoning Or Not?

It is not easy to determine if one has food poisoning or not. Many people get food poisoning and do not even realize they had it. Some people pass it off as an unset stomach and do not think that it is serious enough to be classified as food poisoning.

One of the common signs that you have food poisoning is severe diarrhoea and vomiting. These symptoms usually go away in about 3-4 days. If you are experiencing a lot of diarrhoea you should drink a lot of fluids to prevent dehydration and you should go see a doctor as soon as possible.  If you do suspect food poisoning, you should eat a BRAT diet, which stands for Banana, Rice, Apple sauce, and Toast. This is a basic diet that will be easy on the stomach while you are getting over possible food poisoning.

If you suspect that you have food poisoning, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible.

My dad got food poisoning once and the doctor told me and my mom to let some clear pop go flat and then get him to drink small amounts. The reason why you let it go flat is because the air bubbles can irritate your already sick stomach. The doctor also said do not drink fruit juices if you have a lot of diarrhoea because the natural sugars in fruit juices tend to cause the diarrhoea to get worse. Another thing that was recommended to us by the doctor was to feed him clear soups for a day to give his stomach time to rest as these soups are easy to digest. Then he was allowed after  a couple of days allowed to have toast and banana. If you suspect that you have food poisoning you should consult a doctor as soon as possible because some types of food poisoning like e-coli can cause your kidneys to shut-down which is a separate condition and needs the help of dialysis usually. If the kidney's became involved in a food poisoning like e-coli then you would need close monitoring usually in a hospital.
