What Can Artists Do To Protect Their Music From Being Downloaded?

I think that there are several sites where music can be downloaded freely and legally. It is the age of internet and downloading therefore it would be very hard to stop people from downloading. One way is to put up their music only on those sites where it is illegal to download music but nowadays in the days of piracy and hackers even that is not much of a solution for artists who want to prevent their music from being downloaded.

Maybe they can find out ways to punish people who download their music illegally by discussing with an attorney or a lawyer about cyber laws and punishments for violating these laws. As experts they can advise the artists in the best possible manner to protect their music from being downloaded without their consent.
