The vast majority of our glaciers are melting ('retreating') today, but still haven't had time to melt fully yet.

If global warming increases over a long period of time, the glaciers everywhere but the north and south pole will completely melt. It would take a while for the ice at the poles to melt, but the entire melting of it would cause global sea levels to rise by around 120m.

Key thing about glaciers melting is that the more they melt, the faster the melting happens. The more lubricated it gets, the faster it will slide down into the warm water and melt.
