How Much Is My Antique Singer Sewing Machine Worth?

My question is I recently bought an antique singer sewing machine and have all the documents and original receipt when it was purchased new in 1889. It has all the attachments and is in very good condition considering that it is 107 years old and I was wondering what it is worth and who might be interested in purchasing it and where I might take it. Thank you very much I hope that I will hear from you very soon.

First, you need to find out what model it is.If it's pre 1948 it will have a serial number either on the front of the machine (usually one or two letters followed by 6 -8 numbers)or the actual model number will be just under the singer logo on the front of the machine. Then go to singer.com and easily look it up on their websight. Now with that knowledge get on Ebay and just search the singer model....and taa daa,you will know

There are numerous antique dealers all over the country, and probably in your local area as well. You can talk to them or take it to them and get their best opinion, guestimate, and then get an average from that. You might be able to contact the Smithsonian Institute and see what they might be able to tell you. I would even contact some museums that deal with American history. Don't think about letting it go too cheap if you are looking to sell it, you want all the info you can get so you don't sell yourself short. Cherish that little piece of history that you have.
If someone famous owned it, or someone significant in history did, then it would bring up the value of the item, if you could prove who the owner was. Good luck to you, and hope this helps you out.

Your sewing machine is worth as much as a willing buyer will pay to a willing seller.

You didn't say what model it was (do you know?).  Even in the 1880s, Singer was producing machines by the millions.  I own an 1899 Singer 28-- its serial number is in the 16 millions.  So, there are alot of these machines around and unless they've been allowed to rust away they usually still work and work very well even compared to modern machines.  They take modern needles and thread, etc.  That 28 I own isn't a museum piece, I sew on it!

A machine with an unusual decal set, or a machine where the decals are really exceptionally good condition (not just 'good for it's age' but 'wow, it's hard to believe that machine is a year old, let alone 120!') can be worth a few hundred dollars depending.  A few very rare machines will be worth more but... Well, those are rare :-)

If there are large (say, finger-sized) areas of decalling missing, then it's just another 100 year Singer that shows its age. Its still worth a little bit but its probably worth more in sentiment.  If its more worn than that, again assuming its not one of the truly rare types, then its value is pretty much all in sentiment.  Around here the thrift stores just throw these machines out because they won't sell (and you see machines on Craigslist all the time from people that have scavenged them out of local dumps).

None of this is considering the treadle/case or attachments.  These also tend to be very common.  But... There are also several very rare attachments from around that era that would fetch more than the machine.  Have someone who knows Singers have a look just to make sure you didn't win the jackpot.  But most likely, the machine has very little value as an antique.
