How Can I Learn To Play The Double Bass?

The double bass is not the easiest instrument to learn and it is a heavy item to carry about, so be prepared to build up some muscle if you want to learn the double bass.
Since they are also quite expensive, usually in the region of £1200-1500 you need to be careful about a huge financial outlay in case you decide it is not for you after all !
You may find that the best way to learn is to find someone who plays who may be semi retired or retired and is willing to pass on their knowledge and skills for a nominal fee and you can use their instrument.
Placing an ad in a local paper should help identify someone who can fit the bill where this is concerned.  If there is a music college near you an ad may help find a cash starved musician who will teach you !

u mean the clasical instrument (like chello) or drums??? I would say either way get one and practice what you wanna here. If you wanna play a stringed instrument the double bass I would get a nice tuner and practice playing the rite notes of a scale.

This would be a good way of training you ear to a proper scale and pitch wish is whats it all about is ear training. start with somting like a b c d e f g. this is the  minor scale. it is easely transposed thus a good focal point. It is also all white keys on a key board so it is also the major scale if played properly.
