I don't think it is difficult to change the filter. It is just time consuming. You have to remove the exhaust pipes first.

In order to change the oil in a Yamaha 1100 classic you must remove the front exhaust pipe and drop down the R side foot platform. You must drain the oil and remove the side cover. There you will find a paper oil filter. This is not an easy oil change and I recommend purchasing an Oil Filter relocation kit. For between $235-300 you can get this kit that replaces the side cover and allows an external oil filter to be mounted on the frame for easy access.
