Where Is Brentwood In Essex?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Brentwood is on the outskirts of London and close to the Thames River. The area of Brentwood used to be a resting place for pilgrims going to Canterbury in Kent, this led to the towns' formation.

Today, it is a busy town with a sports centre, entertainment venue and parks. Some notable places in Brentwood are the Brentwood Cathedral on Ingrave Road, which is a new Roman Catholic cathedral; Brentwood Museum in Cemetery Lodge, Lorne Road; Mountnessing Windmill, a traditional weatherboarded post mill; Thordon Country Park and Weald Country Park in South Weald.

There is also the Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker, in Kelvedon Hall Lane, Kelvedon Hatch, Brentwood, CM14 5TZ, off A128.

Hidden away beneath a bungalow is a Cold War hideaway. Made of 10 feet of reinforced concrete, there are 3 storeys hidden more than 100 feet underground, complete with a command centre, kitchens, sleeping quarters and even a BBC radio station. Open: Summer.
