What Is The Contrasting Climate Of The British Isles?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The climate of the western part of the British Isles is different from that of the East. While the western part is dominated by the polar and tropical air, the east is governed by the continental cycles and the air currents. The air masses that pass over these islands are said to be one of the causes of this grand variation. The sunlight received at the various altitudes also is a determining factor. Thus, one can divide the entire climate into 4 main parts. The northwest has mild winters (that average about 6°C) and cool summers (that average about 15°C). The northeast on the other hand has cold winters (temperatures up to 3°C) and cool summers. The southwest quarter is subject to warm summers and mild winters. It is also recorded that the west receives a lot more rainfall than he east.
