Why? The first witch hunts weren't in Salem. |
The first ones I was able to find were in France and Switzerland, in the 14th and 15th centuries. |

If you go by the bible. It mentions witches/sorcerers being stoned/killed and if you follow that you will find that they had furnaces in which they tried to burn shadrack/mishack/abednigo followers of jesus. I am not saying they are witches. But how far would it have been to jump to the idea to burn the ones they considered witches. Just because they have not found the documents yet for this does not mean they did not do this back in the time of jesus life so the first which hunt was in the year within the time of jesus life. b.c.
