Be Or Not To Be A Smoker: How To Decide?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

I have smoked since I was 12 years old, I'm forty one. I have emphysema. There isn't any turning this back, once you have it, you have it, and it only progresses. I can't run 50 feet without being out of breath. I have to use an inhaler to open my lungs up so that I can breath better, and to get color back in my lips, my skin is pale, and loses color.
I cough up junk all the time, daily in fact. That's not real impressive to look at or hear first thing in the morning. Doing housework is harder, just walking to fast I have to rest sometimes.

I get bronchitis and pneumonia at least once a year, you can die from this if it goes unchecked. Either of these illnesses hurts when they are in your chest.

By the time my youngest daughter marries, she will probably have to look at me wearing a stupid hose attached to my face. That's the last thing I want her to see when it's supposed to be the happiest day of her life.

How will she feel about me smelling like cigarette smoke when I want to hold her children? I've also lost a lot of physical strength, I used to be able to pick up 50 lbs, now I'm lucky to pick up 30 now.

Some of the other side effects are coded, and there are surgeries that can be done to aid in breathing for sufferers. Really, if you want to SEE some of this, you can go to www.wikipedia.org, and type in EMPHYSEMA. I would hope that this might discourage you from even thinking about smoking.

Another thing that it does is it ages you faster than you would normally age, imagine being wrinkled at 40. Knock on wood, I am not, but that is just my mother's good genes. This especially happens with men. I really hope this helps you decide not to smoke. Good luck.

If you like to start smoking cigarettes, here are few points that may help you decide whether or not to be a smoker.

      1. Write down a list of the people you recognize who are smokers
      2. Don't put anybody on the list who has not been smoking since last one year.
      3. Request each person on your list for an interview.
      4. Tell them all that you are doing this because you would like to learn from them. Particularly, you want to know that what they have acquired from being a smoker.
      5. Only if they allow, you should continue with the interview.
. First of all, ask them why they initiated smoking.
      7. Everyone has his own story to tell. Some stories will be alike but no two stories will be accurately the same.
      8. Ask them if they have ever be apologetic or guilty on starting smoking.
      9. Give them some time to answer this question and let them feel comfortable. Different smokers will think very differently about smoking.
      10. Ask them what they mainly like about smoking.
      11. If they no longer take pleasure in smoking, let them say so. If they actually enjoy having a cigarette after every meal, let that be their answer.
      12. Ask them what they slightest enjoy about smoking.

Note down all the answers that people give you and maintain careful accounts of these answers. If you be taught from the experiences of others, you save wear and tear on yourself. Mind it…an experience that you get for free, doesn't cost you anything but it is the key to an elegant and happy future.
