How Do You Know If A Lizard Is Vegetarian Or Not?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There a large number of lizard species and many of them are vegetarian, carnivorous or even omnivorous. It is important that before getting or purchasing a lizard you know what species it belongs to and enquire weather or not it is vegetarian. Once you know the particular species can use the internet to search for dietary information.

As a general rule larger lizards like the Uromastyxs, Chuckwalla, Green iguanas etc are vegetarian species. But some larger species like the bearded dragons can require a part of their normal diet to include a few insects even though eighty percent of their diet is vegetarian.

Even though a lizard is vegetarian it does necessarily mean that it is easy to keep. They have to be fed a constant supply of fresh vegetables which is expensive and they can be very aggressive when fully grown.
