    Isabella Van Wagener was a famous evangelist and social reformer of United States of 1800s. The lady was born in 1797 in Ulster County, New York. She was a daughter of a slave. Isabella spent her childhood under several masters as an abused chattel. She became free from slavery in 1827. Then she started to work as a domestic in New York City from 1829 to 1843. Isabella started sermonizing on the street corners with Elijah Pierson, who was an evangelical missionary.

    Isabella adopted the name of Sojourner Truth. She traveled the Midwest and preached for women's rights. She also included Abolitionism in her messages. In that every area she traveled, her magnetism personality drew a large crowd. At the time of American Civil War Isabella or Sojourner Truth gathered black volunteer regiments to contribute for the nation. She helped to incorporate the streetcars in Washington D.C as she went there in 1864. She was received by the president Abraham Lincoln at the White House.

    After the American Civil War finished, she started working for the united or freedmen's liberation association as well as she also encouraged relocation to Kansas and Missouri. This great lady of the history of humanity died on 26th November, 1883 at Battle Creek in United States.
