Do Fish Sleep And If So Won't They Still Be Able To See You Because The Can't Close Their Eyes?

Answer Question

Fish do sleep, although not like other creatures. Fish go into what is known as a 'state of rest', when they go under a rock or something else, and keep still. They may be asleep at this time, but we will never know, because of the simple fact that a fish does not have eyelids! Since a fish does not have eyelids, then how can it close its eyes, to sleep?
However, experts feel that a fish, when it is asleep or in a state of rest, will be completely relaxed, although some fish even move around when they are asleep. It is not known, however, whether a fish can actually 'see' when it is actually asleep!

Every live takes rest. Fishes also takes rest. Only thing is that their eyelids are not like mammals. They have transparent protective cover on eyes. The major interaction of fish with rest of the world is not by eyes but by smell. If you give complete anaesthesia to a fish you will find its eyes working. That is complete rest of fish.
