Sounds like your friend does not really take your feelings into consideration and may not be as great a friend as you think. You should let her know it bothers you that she is thinking of dating this guy. Just like the old cliché goes "Guys come and go, but friends are forever."

This is a tough spot. I remember liking a guy and I told a close friend of mine. She didn't tell me that she liked him too.... at least not right off. We put off our friendship first and made time to talk about it when no one else was around. We talked about the hard stuff, each of us spoke about how we were feeling and did some crying together. It was a good thing. She ended up dating him and I realised later that I didn't want to go out with him. Put your friendship first. And let the dating thing fall as it may.

Its not just about you. Does your friend really like him too? How does he feel? He's not just an object, you know- he could already have a girlfriend and you could ruin your friendship fighting over a guy who's taken. He could really like your friend. Or he could really like you. Don't expect your friend to give up a crush just because you like him too. Talk about it, work around it, and agree to not let it come between you.

Well, right now. . I'm in that exact same situation except my friend didn't ask me. My friend doesn't even like this guy. She treats him like a trophy boyfriend. It annoys me cause i really like him. : ( gosh, aren't people annoying, lol.
