Indian Directors and Producers are constantly inspired by films made in Hollywood and by Western Literature. There was even an Indian version of Superman called Shaktiman. It should come as no surprise then that a 1982 Indian film called "Angoor" or grape was based on William Shakespeare's play. The film was produced by one Jai Sing and was directed by noted Indian director Gulzar. The movie starred Indian screen legend Sanjeev Kumar and Devan Verma and Moushumi Chatterjee.

The film was based entirely on the play by Shakespeare; with a few alterations to adapt it in the Indian Scenario.  An Indian family comprising Taj Tilak and his wife have two identical twin boys and name them both Ashok. They adopt another set of twin boys and call them both Bahadur. The families get separated with one of each and are reunited near the end of the film but only after two hoots and a barrel of laughs.
