Follow my step by step guide for this purpose:
1-Select the picture that you want to use as a myspace background and host it on any online service like www.imagevenue.com or www.geocities.comm
2-In your myspace account click on "Manage Blog" which is next to your photo.
3-Click "MY controls" and then on the "Customize Blog" link
4-Press "Background Settings" box
5-Now copy url of your image in the field "Background Image"
6-Update it

If u want 2 set ur picture as background on ur computer then , right click on the pic and select Set As Desktop Background
