Linda Alvarado was born in 1952 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has been a business pioneer on many different fronts. She is the owner of a very successful construction company called Alvarado Construction that was based in Denver, Colorado. Alvarado Construction Company is one of the fastest growing construction companies in the United States. Some of the major projects completed by Alvarado Construction are the construction of the Denver Broncos stadium, the Denver International Airport, and the Colorado Convention Center.
In 1991, she became the first Hispanic person to own a major league baseball franchise. She was the owner of the Colorado Rockies. In addition to owning the Colorado Rockies, she also served as the corporate director of the Pepsi Bottling Group, Pitney Bowes, and US West Communications.
She has won many awards for her contributions to construction and business including the Sara Lee Corporation's Frontrunner Award, the Revlon Business Woman of the Year, and the U.S. Hispanic Chambers of Commerce Business Woman of the Year.
