Aids can only be passed on by blood to blood contact and this is exceedingly rare in heterosexual intercourse. The anus and rectum are not designed for penetration so "buggery" as anal intercourse is called is much more likely to result in blood to blood contact, since it is much easier for the walls of the rectum to be torn by intercourse in the back passage.
Communication of Aids through heterosexual intercourse happens quite frequently in Africa where buggery is often used as a method of contraception. It is almost never passed between husband and wife in the west, as most married couples only practice vaginal intercourse.
In fact, buggery was illegal in England, even between consenting adults, until very recently. This was not done to criminalize homosexuals, but because it was realised early on that it was a dangerous and unhealthy practice. The law was repealed because it did, in fact, criminalize practising male homosexuals, and it became regarded as unfair discrimination.
So, a wife remaining free of Aids even though her husband died of it is quite normal. The two main ways of transmission have always been buggery and sharing of infected needles between drug addicts, plus transfusion with infected blood before it could be tested for infection.

Sorry but Felicity is wrong. I'm working at a hospital for 11 years now and I work a lot with Aids patients. Aids or HIV can be passed on through blood and through sex and it doesn't matter what kind of sex you are having. I would like you to give me more information. The only way that she didn't get the virus is if they practiced save sex. You must remember that their is a window period as well. She might show negative now but maybe she is not. There is also another possibility but then I need to know in which country she's living in.

Sorry Felicity_X but you are very, very wrong. Aids are not only passed on through blood but it is a sexually transmitted disease as well and both men and woman can get Aids and it doesn't matter what kind of sex you have
