What Is The Difference Between Formula Mass And Atomic Mass And What Are Their Units?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Atomic mass is the sum of the protons and neutrons in an atom and it is different from the formula mass because formula mass is the mass of an ionic compound. The concept similar to the formula mass is the molecular mass but that is the sum of the atomic masses of the atoms in an atom. Formula mass is the sum of the atomic masses but in the ionic form. Atomic mass and formula mass are both measured in Atomic mass unit (amu).
