Can I Make My Period Come Early With My Birth-Control Pills?

I'm going on a week long vacation across country and I just realized that that is the same time I will have my monthly visitor. I heard that you might be able to control it (have it come a week early or week late) by skipping pills or taking them out of order while using a back up method of birth control. Is that true?

Yes, quit taking the about 2 weeks before your trip, you'll get your period within the week and it will be done before you leave.  Then take your pills regularly after that, don't compensate for the ones you skip.  I've done this successfully before, but you probably do it more than once per year.

      Hi Cheryl,

In my experience with taking birth control pill a couple of times I missed up to three or four pills in a row and I began spotting. It felt as though it was my period because I had cramps to go with it as well. I don't know if this will have the same effect on you and it has been a awhile since I have taken pills too.
