How Do I Get The Key To Karazhan?

Karazhan is a 10-person raid instance in the World of Warcraft Burning Crusade expansion. A player must go through a complicated series of quests to gain access to the dungeon.

The quest chain begins with the NPC called Archmage Alturus in Karazhan, which is in between Duskwood and the Swamp of Sorrows. Alturus gives a couple of quests which involve killing some of the undead creatures who lurk around the area. Once you have done these, he will give you another quest for which you have to take something to Archmage Cedric in Dalaran, near Southshore. Cedric gives you another quest to talk to Khadgar in Shattrath City. Khadgar gives you the main quests which involve recovering three key fragments from various instances. The first is located next to the last boss in Shadow Labyrinth – this one can actually be looted without aggroing the boss. The second key fragment is in a pool close to the first boss in Coilfang Reservoir; the third is in a room just after the first boss in Arcatraz. Note : Arcatraz requires a key to enter so you will need to do the quests to acquire the key or join a group with someone who already has it.

Once you have the key fragments, Khadgar will give you another quest which involves talking to Medivh in the Black Morass, Caverns of Time : Dark Portal instance. You won't be able to enter this instance until you have completed the Caverns of Time : Durnholde Keep quest. You then must complete the Dark Portal instance, helping Medivh survive the various waves of enemies who attack him. After that, talk to him and you have your key!
