Why Is The Family Regarded As An Important Social Structure In Our Society Today?

Family is usually denoted by individuals and group of people who live together to share their life time happiness and sorrows. Family in our society holds an important position and acts as a key to build an effective social structure. Many cultures have different ways of viewing families. The countries which have collective culture, they are more family oriented. Similarly the countries with individualistic cultures pay lesser attention in family building. Families develop social structure by creating a collective culture in the societies which contribute to the culture of overall country. Each country has certain norms and social taboos. These taboos come from the culture and norms created by the families. Hence families contribute a greater portion to develop a society. If there would have been no family, then there would be no society.

Family is the core of any society. It is considered as an important social structure. This is because a family is the traditional way of being together and helping each other out.

Man is a social animal. He can not live in isolation. His kids, parents, brother and sisters make up his family. He is living with them through out his life in his different life stages. These people are the ones who help him out when he is emotionally or otherwise stressed out and vice versa. So his family comprises of the most important social structure for him.

Traditions pass from generation to generation because of our family system. Same is the case with our culture, values, ethics and moral values.
