Where Can I Get Unbiased Advice With My Debts?

There are many debt consolidation and debt management companies advertising their services on the television, radio, newspapers and magazines. They can help you with debt, often by putting all your debts into one loan and paying it off over a longer period of time, which makes each monthly payment lower.
However, these companies are there to make a profit, and although they may well be very helpful, they will use only the methods that they promote (if they fit your circumstances) and that will make money for them.
For independent and unbiased advice, the best place to go is the CAB, Citizens Advice Bureau. This is a nationwide group of charities that have been set up to advise people on a wide range of issues, not just finance and debt, and can be found in most cities and major towns. They are not tied to any particular product in order to make a profit, so they are free to advise and help you as much as possible, and their services are confidential, independent and free.
You can find your local CAB in the phone book or by asking at a library or local council office.
