It was founded in 2005 by Jesse James Garrett after he noticed that there was a need for a shorthand term to categorize the technologies he was using for websites. AJAX which stands for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is a collection of all different technologies all thrown in together to make better web applications, as well as making web pages function better and faster. The languages used in AJAX are JavaScript, HTML, CSS and XML.
