Santa Pod Raceway, the first permanent drag racing venue in Europe, can be located in Wellingborough, Northants. The raceway is on Airfield Road of Podington, and the venue itself was a former air base during the World War II.
The raceway was founded in the year 1966 and since then it has grown leap and bound. It play host to many racing championships like British National Drag Racing Championships, FIM/UEM European Drag Racing Championship and also the first and the last round of FIA. In the racing season it has sixty different events to its credit; right from the Classic Car events to the Fast Show.
It was at this venue where Sammy Miller set the world record of 3.58 seconds in Vanishing Point Rocket Funny Car event in the year 1984.
