Do Female Turtles Still Lay Eggs If They Don't Have A Male In The Tank To Fertilize Them?

Yes they will..... They are just like chickens. There body is ready to lay eggs without fertilization. Weird i know. Hope i answered well enough.

I had a female turtle (red earred slider) for 10 years when she started laying eggs.  I always thought she was a male so it was disturbing.  I now have her 20 years and she lays eggs every year.  She just laid 7 today!  It was the first time I let her outside and she dug a hole in my garden, laid them, and covered them so perfectly you would never know they were there.  It was awesome to watch!  So your turtle won't die and it may lay eggs, but they won't hatch without a male.

Yes, female turtles will lay eggs around the fifth year.  If you are not sure if your turtle is a male or a female,just turn the turtle over and look at its tail,if the hole on the tail is closer to the body,it is a female,if it is further down the tail closer to the tip of the tail,it is a male.  I hope this answer helps you.

I have had my turtle for about 6 months now. My turtle was in a pet store before i bought it. I first didn't know if it was a boy or girl so i just named it Sheldon. Now i found out she is a girl so now it's shelly. I was wondering if my turtle could lay an egg without another male in the tank? She lives in her own tank. Could she have mated before at the pet store? When will she lay eggs if she does?

I think if they use to live with a male  they could have one but will you answer our question?
