The background of the compact disk (CD) was inspired by the videodisk in the form of Video Long Play (VLP).
In nearly 1982, the CD-DA (compact disk-digital audio) was created and placed for sale. It held a large amount of audio signal in a 1, 0 formate.
In 1985, the CD-DA expertise was increased for computer storage. This was called a CD-ROM (compact disk-read only memory). The physical format of CD-ROM is specified by the ECMA-119.Whereas, The logical design for storage of data is specified in the ISO standard 9660.
Then the CD-I (compact disk-interactive) was introduced in 1986. After that the CD-ROM/XA (extended architecture) was announced in 1988. Philips, Sony, and Microsoft companies fixed digital optical formats for storage device.
CD-WORM (write once read many times)was started in 1990, as well as CD-MO (magneto-optical). The basic reasons for the accomplishment
of CD-DA and CD-ROM is the following:
    • Microscopic physical interface and drawingof the compact disk.
Data arrangement that provides storage for data, location for data storage, and alteration from error.
    • Error correction code (ECC)methodology, with lot space for extra storage of data and ECC.
The distinct thing between CD-DA and CD-ROM  is in the format of data.
