Any Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas?

This my favorite: Get a large laundry basket. Fill it with baby things that people don't usually give as shower gifts-  box of diapers, Desitin, powder, baby wash, a soft baby towel, baby lotion, baby oil, a baby comb and brush, nail clipper,  some bottles, Jammies, Onesies, booties, receiving blankets (You can never have too many) A CD with soothing lullabyes, a nite light, some toys to make it all look cute, and above all... A gift certificate for the new mom to getaway for a few hours... Manicure/pedicure/ hair, or dinner and movie for mom and dad. Also include free babysitting so they can use the gift certificate. I did this for a friend once and she loved it.. So after that, all my friends who had babies let me know how much they liked it too..(hint hint..lol) I did the same for them too.

There's this one gift i received from my mother in law that I've never
seen or heard of before and I'm glad i did cause i really enjoyed it!
It's a diaper cake! Have you ever seen one? Its not a real cake, it's
made with diapers..usually sizes 1 or 2, and you roll them up and make
layers of the cake , usually 3 different size layers, kinda like a
snowman. Then you can put blue or pink ribbons around it, and you know
how on real cakes they put edible flowers on it? Well instead, get baby
washclothes and put them all around the cake, and the bottom layer buy
travel size baby things like, shampoo, powder, lotion, etc and decorate
the bottom.  Then as a topper you can get like a small stuffed animal
or something and put on top. (mine had a blue duck on the top) and I'm
not exactly sure how she made it stay together i think she used wire
hangers on the inside and the bottom she had a pretty carboard base.
But I'm sure you can look them up online and they'll tell you how to
make them! Or you might be able to get one pre-made! It's real nice
cause it has everything on there that a newborn needs and anytime you
need something, just start taking it off the cake! (unless you wanna
save it ) i eventually did take my apart to use the items , which was
helpful, diapers get expensive!! But i do have a picture of mine i can
mail it to you if you are interested.
